The Georgia State School of Music is proud to share that Professor Tania Maxwell Clements, Coordinator of Strings, Director of Campus Orchestra and Principal Senior Lecturer in Viola and Music Survey, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Atlanta Federation of Musicians’ Educator Award.
Presented by the Atlanta Federation of Musicians Local 148-462 Organizing Task Force, the Educator Award is now in its sixth year. The honor recognizes members who exemplify music education excellence and contribute to advancing music in schools and the community. Each year, nominations are submitted by peers and the prize may be used to support the recipient’s music education directives.
“I’m so honored to be the recipient of this award from the AF of M Atlanta chapter. Thank you to all the students, past and present, who continue to be an inspiration to me,” said Professor Clements.
“Professor Clements sets a fantastic example of service to the Atlanta musical community, both through her active role as a performer and as a teacher of the next generation of performing artists,” comments Dr. Julia Bullard, Director of the School of Music. “Her work with our Campus Orchestra, comprised largely of non-major students and future music educators, advances the AFM’s and the Georgia State School of Music’s shared mission to promote the value of music and expand our reach into the community. We are thrilled to see this important external recognition of her many contributions.”
