Facilities and Events Specialist Marcus Cooper says that no day in the School of Public Health is ever the same, so what’s important is being adaptable, flexible and resourceful.
When did you join the School of Public Health, and what do you enjoy about working here?
I joined the School of Public Health in May 2022. What I enjoy about working here is the small role I play in helping to support the current and future public health leaders of the world.
What’s a typical workday for you like?
To quote Forrest Gump, "My momma always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." No day in SPH is ever the same, but being adaptable, flexible and resourceful to the issues as they arise is what’s most important.
What about your work are you most proud of?
What I'm most proud of is a two-fold answer. From a facilities standpoint, it's ensuring that everyone has a safe, clean and optimal working environment. From an events perspective, it's making sure that events we execute are meaningful, impactful and do the work of educating and highlighting the people and the public health issues.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I'm simple. When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family. Maybe watching an old movie, reading a good book or listening to a podcast.
