The Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions was proud to partner in the STATE to State Regional Reach: Atlanta Roots event on April 23, 2026—an evening that brought Atlanta-area alumni together for connection, conversation, and a shared commitment to health and well-being.
As part of the University’s broader regional engagement efforts, Atlanta Roots reflected the Lewis College mission in action—bridging education, leadership, and practical health insights in a space centered on community. The event created meaningful opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the institution while engaging in timely, impactful content rooted in evidence-based practice.
The centerpiece of the evening was the featured presentation by Professor Jessica Todd, “Eat to 100: A Blue Zones Culinary Experience.” Through a thoughtful and interactive format, Professor Todd invited attendees to rethink longevity through nutrition, mindful habits, and sustainable lifestyle choices. Her work exemplifies the Lewis College’s commitment to translating academic expertise into accessible tools that support healthier lives, and her message resonated strongly with alumni seeking practical, real-world guidance.
The Lewis College was also honored to be represented alongside University leadership, including President Blake, who emphasized the importance of alumni connection and regional partnership, and Dean Mo, who highlighted the College’s continued focus on innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and impact. Nutrition Chair Dr. Wanders further underscored the strength of faculty leadership and shared purpose that made the program both engaging and relevant.
The success of Atlanta Roots was made possible through the strong leadership of the University’s Advancement team, whose thoughtful planning and dedication ensured an experience that was welcoming, impactful, and aligned with the mission of the Lewis College and the institution as a whole.
Events like STATE to State: Atlanta Roots reaffirm the Lewis College’s belief that health education, community engagement, and alumni connection go hand in hand. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening a meaningful celebration of Panther pride and purpose—and we look forward to welcoming you at a future event.
