ATLANTA— Georgia State University College of Law experienced exceptional results for the July 2025 bar exam with a list of notable achievements.
The college ranked No. 2 in overall bar passage with 84.7 percent.
This is the highest overall bar passage score for Georgia State Law since 2020, when the test was modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Georgia State Law’s 87.3 percent passage rate for first-timers further supports the College’s and Georgia State University’s commitment to student success.
The law school also came out on top by claiming the No. 1 spot for foreign-educated lawyers who passed the bar exam on the first attempt. Georgia State Law holds the highest number of LL.M. students who participated in the bar exam. Due to these accomplishments, Georgia State Law welcomed 160 alumni into the Georgia Bar, which is higher than any other school in the state.
“Georgia State University College of Law’s commitment to excellence, accessibility and impact regularly produces the most alumni who pass the Georgia bar exam. We consistently produce the most first-time test takers and total applicants who pass the Georgia bar exam, and this year was no exception,” said Courtney Anderson, dean of Georgia State University College of Law. Eighty percent of the school’s repeat exam takers also passed the July 2025 bar exam, improving their overall American Bar Association (ABA) bar passage rate.
“Our affordable, high-quality law school is fulfilling its mission to educate Georgia residents, the vast majority of whom stay in Georgia to represent clients in Georgia. With the continued support of Georgia State University, community members, stakeholders and alumni, I’m confident we will continue to produce successful graduates and am proud to welcome them into our profession,” Anderson added.
Georgia State Law focuses heavily on bar preparation for its law students, dedicating programming and countless resources to render a successful outcome. In 2023, Tia Gibbs, director of Academic Advisement and Bar Success, launched “Pounce the Bar,” a robust bar preparation program that offers law students programming opportunities and support to study and practice for the bar exam and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE).
