The need-based scholarship will support promising Master of Public Health students.
ATLANTA—A recently endowed need-based scholarship at the Georgia State University School of Public Health will help honor the legacy of a staff member who devoted her career to helping students achieve their academic goals.
The Lynette Forte Reid Memorial Scholarship will benefit high-achieving Master of Public Health students, with a preference for those who completed their undergraduate degree at Georgia State and will go on to become double Panthers.
It honors Reid and her 24-year career at Georgia State, which spanned both undergraduate and graduate admissions. She joined the School of Public Health in 2014 and, as graduate recruitment manager, was often the first person from the school that prospective graduate students met.
The school began raising funds in Reid’s memory shortly after her passing in February 2024. Nearly 60 donors contributed more than $25,000 to endow the Lynette Forte Reid Memorial Scholarship. These funds will be invested, with the earnings enabling the school to provide scholarships to promising public health students year after year, forever.
“Over the course of her career at Georgia State, Lynette touched the lives of countless students, faculty and staff,” said Dean Rodney Lyn. “She was a beloved member of the School of Public Health community, and we are honored to continue her legacy by supporting students through the Lynette Forte Reid Memorial Scholarship.”
