ATLANTA — The Georgia State University School of Public Health has launched a new digital platform to connect students and alumni with internships, applied practice experiences and career opportunities.
Through ELEVATE, students can search postings for internships, applied practice experiences (APEs) and jobs. They can also learn about and register for career fairs and connect with their fellow students, as well as members of the school’s growing alumni network. Alumni also have access to ELEVATE job boards and networking features, and the platform makes it easier for employers to recruit students and alumni based on their degree programs, concentrations and experiences.
“ELEVATE transforms how public health students, alumni and employers connect and collaborate,” said Sheryl Strasser, an associate professor and the school’s director of Experiential Learning and Workforce Development. “By facilitating direct access to job opportunities, career events and experiential learning, it empowers our community to build meaningful relationships that accelerate professional development.”
Public health degree holders are in high demand at agencies, healthcare organizations, academic institutions, private companies and nonprofit organizations. The school’s most recent Career Outcome Rates are 97 percent for undergraduate students, 98 percent for Master of Public Health students and 100 percent for doctoral students.
Students can apply for positions directly through ELEVATE, and the platform enables them to create a personalized profile to showcase their qualifications to employers. It also helps students identify potential placements by giving them insights into organizations where students with similar concentrations and experiences have found APEs, internships and jobs.
For alumni, ELEVATE supports career advancement and progression while also creating opportunities to connect with current students as mentors and to share their expertise through webinars or other events.
Employers can use ELEVATE to post job listings and internship opportunities. In addition, they can search the student and alumni resume database to identify qualified candidates and tailor their recruitment efforts to specific concentrations or degree programs within the school.
“Our extraordinary career outcome rates underscore the Georgia State School of Public Health’s success in preparing students for thriving, impactful careers,” said Dean Rodney Lyn. “With the launch of the ELEVATE platform, our school is strengthening its relationships with alumni and employers in Atlanta’s vibrant public health community while helping students seamlessly transition from college to career.”
