Dear Faculty and Staff:
Our spring 2025 semester is moving briskly, with lots of exciting events and activities scheduled for the month. Thank you to all of the faculty and staff who helped to ensure the success of our 38th Annual Mathematics Conference held last week on our Clarkston Campus. We are now gearing up for the exciting start of our annual Mario A.J. Bennekin Black History Symposium.
The week-long symposium will feature a dynamic lineup with a keynote presentation on Monday, Feb. 17 from Tim Fielder, award-winning illustrator, concept designer, cartoonist, animator, author—and Perimeter College alumnus. It is my hope you will attend one or more of the symposium sessions—and will encourage students to participate as well. Visit the symposium webpage for the full calendar of activity details.
Also this month, we will host our annual Daffodil Festival and Symposium on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Newton Campus. This year’s event will focus on the timely topic of artificial intelligence, or AI—while continuing to celebrate the history of the Newton Campus and its abundance of daffodils.
Our 2025 Faculty Awards Ceremony quickly follows February’s full event schedule. On Friday, March 7, we will recognize this year’s standout faculty for their classroom innovation, creativity and effectiveness. Please mark your calendar now for this special ceremony where we can applaud those among us who go above and beyond to help students succeed.
I also invite you to make plans to attend our Spring Business Meeting on Thursday, February 27 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the JCLRC Auditorium. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format. Watch your email for further details.
As you can see, there are lots of good things happening at Perimeter College. This would not be so if it were not for each of you doing what you do as faculty and staff to serve our students and uphold the mission of Perimeter College. Thank you—and I hope to see you when I stop at your campus in the near future. Have a great semester!
Sincerely,
Barbara J. Johnson, Ph.D.
