Mark Graves (biology), Amie Tamba (biology and Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation student), Dr. Amy Cook (chemistry) and Dr. Samantha Andrews (biology) participated in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Family STEM Night at McNair Middle School in Decatur, Ga. on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The STEM faulty participated in the event by providing students with the opportunity to make slime. Students also made a Jellyfish diver to learn about the relationship between pressure and volume. “These kind of community partnerships expose students to interesting and fun STEM concepts and strengthens the K12 to College pipeline,” Dr. Andrews said.

On Nov. 6, 2024, Perimeter College's annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony marked ten years of paying tribute to hundreds of student veterans for their military service. Director of Military Outreach Lisa Boyd coordinated the event and leads the college’s Military Outreach Center which provides services for veterans, reservists, active duty and National Guard service members and their families. “This was a day to celebrate our great military, our veterans and their families who have voluntarily sacrificed so much so we can stand today as a free Republic,” Boyd said.
Perimeter’s former Student Veteran Association member and military advocate Loretta Arrington initiated the annual tradition in 2014. “I’ve always understood how essential it is to honor and recognize our veterans, so starting this tradition was especially important to me,” Arrington said.
This year’s keynote speaker was Georgia House of Representatives member and United States Army reservist Colonel Josh Bonner.

Georgia State University was recently named among the nation’s top schools for study abroad (#27) in this U.S. News & World Report.
Congratulations to Dr. Pejman Sanaei, assistant professor of mathematics and statistics at Georgia State University, for his lead role in authoring "A Simplified Mathematical Model for Erosion and Deposition in a Porous Medium," which included the assistance of Perimeter College students. The article, which has been accepted for publication in Physical Review Fluids Journal, is co-authored by Georgia State students, including two from Perimeter College: Priyanka Joseph and Kulsum Saber. Sanaei also co-authored another scholarly article that included the assistance of Perimeter students Paul Joseph and Ashok Joseph. This article, entitled “A Simplified Mathematical Model for Cell Proliferation in a Tissue-Engineering Scaffold,” was published in the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology on November 30.
