Erin Weeks, Senior Research Associate in the Mark Chaffin Centers for Healthy Development, has worked on several research projects and says she has learned something new each time.
When did you join the School of Public Health, and what do you enjoy about working here?
I joined SPH in 2009 as a Research Coordinator after graduating from GSU with a BA in psychology and completing an undergraduate practicum at the National SafeCare Training and Research Center. I most enjoy the opportunity to work with and learn from all the talented researchers at SPH and to discover new areas of interest through events like the Grand Rounds lectures.
What’s a typical workday for you like?
On a typical day, I work with external consultants and students to coordinate data collection and service delivery of the SafeCare curriculum in Clarkston. This includes working with community partners to recruit new participants, checking in and troubleshooting with program implementors, cleaning data, and assisting with progress reports and budgeting.
What about your work are you most proud of?
Over the years, I’ve worked on several different research projects. On each one, I learned something new. I’m most proud of my determination to improve and find more efficient and effective processes.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I most enjoy spending time with friends and family, crafting, and trying new recipes. I recently made homemade cinnamon buns for the first time, and they were a hit!
