CLARKSTON, Ga.—From teaching excellence to civic engagement to the college’s highest honor, the Cole Fellow Award, nine faculty were recognized Friday, March 1 during the annual awards ceremony. The group represents the breadth, depth and commitment of Perimeter College’s focus on teaching, service and student success.
As each slide featuring an award-winner photo appeared on the screen, there were shrieks of appreciation from the crowd. Each winner received multiple rounds of applause as their numerous accomplishments were announced by Dr. Anant Honkan, Faculty Awards Committee chair.
The event was in the Jim Cherry Auditorium on the Clarkston Campus.
The 2023-24 award winners are:
Teaching Excellence—Barbara Robertson, Instructor of Political Science, History and Political Science Department
Faculty Service Excellence —Dr. Nikita Patterson, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Mathematics Department
Faculty Professional Development —Dr. Vivian Mativo, Professor of Chemistry, Physical Science Department
Outstanding Junior Faculty—Dr. Jennifer Lobo Meeks, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Humanities Department
Outstanding Senior Faculty: Dr. Kimmy Kellett, Associate Professor of Biology, Life and Earth Science
Outstanding Adjunct Faculty: Jennifer Lentz, Part-time Instructor of English, English Department
Global Engagement Award—Dr. Luise Strange deSoria, Professor of Chemistry, Physical Sciences Department
Civic Engagement –Hosanna Fletcher, Lecturer of Sociology, Cultural and Behavioral Sciences Department
Cole Fellow—Tamra Ortgies-Young, Associate Professor of Political Science
