Juarndai Lei Gagnon, Director of Grants, Contracts and Finance in the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development, collaborates with colleagues and manages budgets while ensuring workflow efficiency.
When did you join the School of Public Health (month/year), and what do you enjoy about working here?
I joined the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development as an administrator in June 2011. I’ve had my hands in many opportunities throughout my working career, but none as enjoyable and fulfilling as working with my MCCHD and SPH families. Faculty, staff and students working within the centers are dedicated to their research and community service programs. The work is purposeful, and my colleagues are intelligent, compassionate, supportive and fun, making for a great team!
What’s a typical workday for you like?
Conquering emails, resolving issues, collaborating with colleagues and managing budgets while ensuring workflow efficiency.
What about your work are you most proud of?
The relationships I’ve gained and the knowledge and skills I have acquired. I’ve got a number of tools in my toolbelt allowing me to solve unique problems and effectively manage our center’s complex budgets.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
Spending time with my kiddos and hubby. I love watching my kids participate in extracurricular activities, playing basketball with my oldest, camping with the family and our dogs, and biking and walks (or sometimes runs) with the kids!
