CLARKSTON, Ga.—“A Decade of Doing,” an exhibit featuring the works of Atlanta artist and muralist Joe Dreher, aka JOEKINGATL, is on display in the Fine Arts Gallery at Perimeter College in Clarkston until early December—with an artist talk scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 5 from 4-6 p.m. at the same location.
For more than a decade, Dreher’s art has adorned buildings, alleyways and other public spaces in Atlanta, transforming them into visual storytellers of the community.
Perimeter College’s Associate Professor of Art History Fernando Rochaix explains that Dreher’s works are “celebrated for their fusion of diversity, storytelling, politics and raw emotion.”
“’A Decade of Doing’ offers attendees the chance to immerse themselves in an array of themes that reflect the rich tapestry of Atlanta's cultural landscape,” Rochaix said.
“Dreher’s pieces narrate tales of hope, resilience, and celebration, resonating deeply with everyone who has walked these city streets.
“From the vibrant rhythm of urban life to the whispers of history embedded in every stroke, each piece echoes the heartbeats of a community united by its diversity and deepening connections.”
“A Decade of Doing” will showcase at the Fine Arts Gallery through Monday, Dec. 11.
The upcoming artist talk will give attendees a chance to discuss Dreher’s creative process, inspirations and the stories that shape his work. The Fine Arts Gallery at Georgia State
University Perimeter College is located in the Fine Arts building at 3735 Memorial College Ave., Clarkston, Ga.
While the Oct. 5 artist talk takes place from 4-6 p.m., regular Cole Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
