CLARKSTON, Ga. — Six plays, all written, produced and acted in 24 hours — that’s the impetus behind the fourth annual “Plays In A Day” festival in the Cole Auditorium on Georgia State University’s Clarkston Campus.
Beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 24, and continuing through Saturday, Aug. 25, Perimeter College students, including members of the Clarkston Drama Club, and Perimeter College alumni will write original scripts, cast their plays and determine lighting and direction. The plays will then be performed at 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25.
The caffeine-fueled event culminates in a night of six separate plays, each lasting about 10 minutes, said Aaron Gotlieb, theater instructor on the Clarkston Campus. The event concludes at 9 p.m. Saturday, although a feedback session willow follow until 10 p.m.
“After the festival performances, the participants, as well as any audience members who would like to stay, get some immediate feedback from adjudicators,” said Gotlieb.
This year, veteran Atlanta actor and director Barbara Cole Uterhardt will be an adjudicator for the plays.
The event is still seeking one director, a few more actors and two writers, Gotlieb said.
The performances are free, but donations are welcome.
The fourth annual Plays In A Day festival will be in the Cole Auditorium of the Clarkston Campus, 3773 Memorial College Drive, Clarkston. For information, contact Gotlieb at [email protected]
