ATLANTA—The School of Public Health at Georgia State University has created a series of one- and two-day courses to provide high-quality, cost-effective training for employees of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The courses are being offered through CDC University, which was established in 1999 to offer professional development and continuous education opportunities for the agency’s workforce.
The first course, Effective Scientific Writing for Publication, was taught by Dr. Lisa Casanova, an associate professor and expert in environmental health.
Upcoming CDC University courses being offered by Georgia State public health faculty are:
- Communication Strategies for Effective Public Health Intervention
- Translating Evaluation Findings into Action
- Public Health Intervention Methods
- Introduction to Public Health Policy
“This is an exciting opportunity for our faculty to share their expertise with public health professionals at the CDC,” said Dr. Michael Eriksen, dean of the School of Public Health.
“We have strong ties to the CDC, which is the top employer of our graduates, as well as a place where many of our faculty have worked. This is an important opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship with the nation’s premier public health institute.”
