Lewis College Announces Distinguished University Professor Appointment of Dr. Dawn Aycock

The Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions announces the appointment of Dr. Dawn Aycock, PhD, RN, as a Distinguished University Professor, Georgia State University’s highest faculty rank. She is the first School of Nursing faculty member to receive this honor, recognizing her exceptional leadership and sustained excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service.

Claudia Madden - Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Semifinalist

Claudia Madden, who started studying at Georgia State University Perimeter College in Spring 2023, is pursuing the college’s Fine Arts pathway. A student on Perimeter’s Clarkston Campus, she is originally from Atlanta. Madden was recently awarded the prestigious Perimeter STAR Award in Fine Arts, and she is a semifinalist for the 2026 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

Georgia State University Awarded Funding to Launch Health on Wheels Mobile Clinic

Georgia State University’s Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions has received $1.35 million in federal funding to launch GSU Health on Wheels, an innovative mobile health clinic focused on advancing health equity across metro Atlanta. Supported through Congressionally Directed Spending, the initiative will deliver essential screenings, immunizations and preventive care directly to underserved and high‑risk populations while providing hands‑on, interprofessional learning opportunities for students.

Perimeter College’s State Farm Scholars Engaged in Community Service

State Farm Scholars at Georgia State University Perimeter College have been busy serving the community this semester. The State Farm Scholars program was introduced at Perimeter in 2017, and participants receive need-based scholarships and assistance both academically and professionally. One requirement of the scholarship is that students must complete five hours of volunteer work each academic year.
