Dear Faculty and Staff:
Spring is an especially meaningful and celebratory time for our college community, with commencement occurring in less than two weeks.
Thanks to the solid preparation students receive at Perimeter College, this spring’s class of 905 graduates is prepared to continue their education or enter the workforce. Our “college to career” efforts will shine brightly during the Dental Hygiene and Nursing pinning ceremonies taking place May 1 and 4, respectively. It is always an honor for me to participate in these sacred rites of passage for students who, once they graduate, can move directly to rewarding jobs in the healthcare fields or pursue additional education and training.
The Perimeter College Class of 2026 also includes State Farm graduates who took part in our Georgia State LIFT (Learning, Income and Family Transformation) program. Through LIFT, we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Perimeter College students.
We hope you will join us for Perimeter College’s commencement as we celebrate our graduates on May 7 at the Georgia State Convocation Center.
In addition, remember to save the date for our Fall Semester Kickoff on Monday, August 17 and watch for more details in the coming months.
Thank you again to everyone who contributed to Perimeter College’s Georgia State Day campaign and helped unlock our gift challenges in support of deserving Perimeter students. We exceeded our fundraising goals, raising more than $258,120 from 67 gifts and achieved the highest total dollars raised across the university.
I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to all who attended the ribbon-cutting celebration for the university’s first Panther Quad at our Clarkston Campus last week. The event was a fitting showcase of our Fine Arts students and marked another important milestone in the implementation of our strategic plan.
Perimeter College continues to make strategic progress in advancing AI initiatives that support teaching and learning. We are very excited about the AI Educators Initiative, led by Deepa Muralidhar, which will conclude in June, as well as the Empowering Faculty AI Initiative, led by Andrea Hendricks, both of which reflect our commitment to building AI fluency and instructional innovation among faculty.
Looking ahead, additional AI-focused programs are being developed for staff and the broader community. In the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing more details about efforts to expand engagement across the college for both faculty and staff.
In closing, as we approach the summer months, although the work of the college continues, I hope you will take some time to unwind and make memories with your family and friends during this typically slower season for the college. We will suspend publication of the Perimeter Brief and Perimeter Post after graduation through August but will resume publishing in the fall. In the meantime, keep an eye on your email for any college communications. As always, I want to thank you for all that you do to make Perimeter a special place.
