ATLANTA — Nine faculty members, staff, students and recent alumni of Georgia State University will be traveling abroad over the next 18 months thanks to the Fulbright academic exchange program.
The Fulbright Program, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education, awards about 9,000 grants a year to U.S. and foreign students, U.S. scholars and those visiting from abroad. Recipients are chosen based on their academic merit and leadership potential, and have the opportunity to use the grant to study, teach, research, pursue projects, exchange ideas and tackle shared challenges.
“It is exciting to see Georgia State faculty and staff earn opportunities through the Fulbright Program that recognize their scholarship, expertise and commitment to global engagement,” said Nicolle Parsons-Pollard, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Georgia State. “Fulbright experiences have a lasting impact not only on the recipients themselves, but also on the students, colleagues and communities they engage along the way. Their work reflects Georgia State’s commitment to academic excellence and the exchange of ideas that enrich both our university and the broader world.”
