ATLANTA — Georgia State University will kick off its eighth annual day of giving and a signature event for celebrating and expanding opportunity for its students, Georgia State Day 2026, on Tuesday, April 21.
Following last year’s record-breaking giving day, which topped the $1 million mark in funds raised for student support for the first time, Georgia State Day 2026 will once again rally alumni, students, faculty, staff and donors to give to programs throughout the university that increase Panther opportunity and advance GSU’s mission.
Last year’s Georgia State Day was a historic fundraising event for the university, with nearly 2,000 donors significantly boosting nearly 300 university programs that open doors for students and foster their success. Fundraising was driven by more than 2,300 gifts and the largest amount of challenge gift dollars of any GSU giving day.
“Georgia State Day spotlights our students’ unlimited potential and celebrates the outstanding things they can accomplish when they get the support they need, while energizing our alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends to uplift and inspire Panthers,” said Tabatha Michel, interim vice president for University Advancement and interim president of the Georgia State University Foundation.
“Whether you give to scholarships that lessen financial burden, support innovative programs or contribute to an area of the university closest to you, your gift on Georgia State Day provides students with something meaningful that lasts beyond the event itself, the knowledge that someone believes in their goals, ambitions and success.”
Georgia State Day 2026 will kick off Tuesday, April 21, at 10 a.m. and last one day, nine hours and 13 minutes, a Georgia State Day tradition that honors the university’s founding year of 1913. The event will offer supporters numerous ways to get involved, including the chance to multiply a donation’s impact through establishing a giving challenge, inspiring others to give by serving as a Champion and posting on social media, or by simply making a gift.
