Greetings, Perimeter faculty and staff.
It feels as though we started the new academic year only a few short weeks ago—and yet we have already accomplished so much this semester. From our fall kickoff with helpful breakout sessions to focused roundtables on alternative credentials, AI and prior learning assessment to the launch of Perimeter’s recent marketing campaign, Pounce Back initiative and photo/video refresh with Admissions, we are on a definite success roll.
Our strategic planning process also continues to move forward. You can check out some of our progress with the project to convert the Clarkston Campus Fine Arts Building entry—now primarily a drop-off area—into a vibrant plaza featuring accessible walkways, seating areas, refreshed landscaping and upgraded lighting to enhance both safety and aesthetics. Parking Lot 4 is also undergoing enhancements. This effort is part of a larger initiative focused on the university's strategic pillar of Identity, Placemaking and Belonging. The goal is to create welcoming and functional spaces on all our campuses to reinforce campus identity and safety and foster community.
I kindly ask that you keep the strategic plan overview document you received at the fall kickoff nearby as a reminder of our shared commitment to preparing the students we serve for career success and more. We have plans to host information about the strategic plan on our website and will let you know when the page is live.
I am pleased to announce in a few short months Perimeter’s new college website will launch. The re-design of our webpages for greater marketing appeal to prospective students and their parents has been a challenging but incredibly rewarding undertaking. An updated website will more effectively showcase the wealth of what our college offers and help students make the decision to choose to enroll at Perimeter. Look for updates about the website in coming weeks.
In the meantime, with two months left in the semester, we have a number of critically important dates to consider, including our Fall Business Meeting scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24 from 10-11 a.m., in-person on Clarkston Campus or virtual, via Webex.
The following are additional dates that I’d like to bring to your attention.
- October 6–10: unDistance Learning Conference (Decatur)
- October 13–14: USG Board of Regents Meeting hosted by GSU (Atlanta)
- Faculty Development Day: Oct. 17 (Virtual)
- Dialogue with the Dean: Oct. 20 (Alpharetta)
- Dialogue with the Dean: Nov. 3 (Newton)
- Fall Commencement: Dec. 17-18 (Atlanta)
- Spring Academic Kickoff: Jan. 7 (Virtual)
Finally, with midterms approaching and multiple campus activities and events planned, there are lots of great things happening at Perimeter this semester. I encourage you to stay engaged—and I wish each of you continued success, whether in the classroom or the office.
Warm regards,
Barbara J. Johnson, Ph.D.
