ATLANTA — The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University has named Elsa Gebremedhin its new college financial officer (CFO). Gebremedhin comes to the Dean’s Office from the Department of Public Management and Policy (PMAP), where she served as its business manager.
In her new role, Gebremedhin will work closely with Assistant Dean for Finance Denise Jenkins, departmental business managers and the college’s leadership team to ensure sound financial management, accurate reporting and compliance with university policies.
“After completing a thorough search, I am pleased to announce that Elsa has joined our office,” Jenkins said. “She brings to this role more than 23 years of experience in financial management, budget analysis, business operations, human resources processes and sponsored research administration at Georgia State University.”
Gebremedhin has provided critical financial oversight, strategic budget planning and operational leadership to the PMAP Department through most of her career. A respected leader and mentor, she has guided and trained new business managers across the college and contributed her expertise to numerous hiring committees.
“Elsa will play a key role in mentoring and supporting our business managers, enhancing consistency and transparency across financial processes and contributing to the achievement of the college’s strategic goals,” Jenkins said. “We look forward to working with her as we continue to strengthen the college’s financial foundation.”
In addition to her financial experience, Gebremedhin is a Certified Research Administrator and has extensive expertise managing pre- and post-award research administration across a variety of federal and non-federal grants.
“Elsa’s deep understanding of compliance, budget management and research administration will be invaluable in her new college-wide role,” Jenkins said. “Her strong working relationships across departments, her collaborative approach and her deep institutional knowledge will support the continued success of our college.”
