ATLANTA— In its 2025 edition of Best Online Programs, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Georgia State’s online psychology bachelor’s degree completion program No. 6 in the country.
U.S. News & World Report evaluates online programs based on criteria such as student engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, and peer assessment. Georgia State’s ranking reflects the program’s commitment to delivering high-quality education tailored to diverse student needs.
“The Department of Psychology is proud to offer an accessible and rigorous program that meets our students where they are and empowers them to achieve their educational and professional goals,” said Distinguished University Professor Sarah Brosnan, acting chair of the Department of Psychology. “This recognition from U.S. News & World Report reflects the dedication of our incredible faculty and staff and the many accomplishments of our students.”
With a 70-year legacy of excellence in research and teaching, plus a world-class faculty, the Department of Psychology trains students in the online program to engage with research, ask new and important questions and make meaningful connections through their classes. Graduates of the online psychology bachelor’s degree completion program either go on to graduate programs or begin careers in case management, advocacy, community relations, rehabilitation services or other paths.
The online psychology bachelor’s completion program, which offers both a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), is designed for returning and transfer students and those transitioning from an associate degree pathway at Georgia State’s Perimeter College. Perimeter College’s online Associate of Science in Psychology program serves as a key feeder into the bachelor’s completion program, offering students a seamless transition to continue their studies at Georgia State. After fulfilling core curriculum and pre-psychology requirements, most students complete the program within two years.
For many students, the program represents a life-changing opportunity to finish what they started. Georgia State’s Come Back, Pounce Forward initiative has helped re-entry students return to college and earn their degrees. The flexibility of the online format, combined with the program’s robust support systems, ensures that students from all walks of life can pursue their educational goals.
Eden Schroeder, a para-swimmer who took first place in her category at the U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships in 2023, enrolled in Georgia State’s online Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree completion program in the summer of 2023. The online format means she never has to negotiate transportation to the Atlanta Campus and can complete her schoolwork where she wants to.
“I looked into schools in Georgia I’d be able to do online, because of transportation issues, and Georgia State offers a fully online program for psychology, which is what I knew I wanted to major in,” Schroeder said. “Thanks to this program, I’m now preparing to graduate with my psychology degree in May.”
In addition to psychology, the College of Arts & Sciences offers online bachelor’s completion programs focusing on political science, sociology and arts and sciences interdisciplinary studies — all designed with re-entry, transfer and transition students in mind.
Georgia State’s online programs continue to receive national recognition. Many others earned spots on U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Programs list.
