ATLANTA, GA – The Office of International Initiatives hosted the International Honorary Reception on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Knowles Conference Center in the College of Law at Georgia State University. The International Education Awards celebrate the exceptional achievements of GSU faculty, staff, alumni, and students who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to global engagement and international education. The ceremony was preceded by an intimate cocktail and hors d’oeuvres mixer attended by award winners, members of the International Council, nominators, selection committee members and key supporters of international initiatives at Georgia State. The award ceremony highlighted the global contributions and accomplishments that enrich the Georgia State community. The recipients of this year’s International Education Awards are:

First established in 2012, the International Education Awards were expanded in 2018 to include the endowed Sheth awards. The Sheth awards recognize a Georgia State faculty member and an international alumnus who have made exceptional international contributions. The selection committees are composed of individuals from across the university, including past recipients, who reviewed the nominations and decided the award winners. Awards are bestowed during the International Honorary Reception which coincides with International Education Week; 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of International Education Week at Georgia State. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public are invited to enjoy globally focused events all year long. Nomination applications for next year’s International Education Awards will reopen in the spring of 2025.
