ATLANTA — Georgia State University will hold its next Georgia State Day, the institution’s signature event for celebrating and expanding opportunity for its students, April 2-3, 2025.
This will be the seventh Georgia State Day and first held during the spring semester since 2019. Last year’s event raised more than $766,000 for programs that create opportunity inside and outside the classrooms and set new records for total engagement with students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters.
“Georgia State Day’s purpose is to spotlight our students’ unlimited potential, celebrate the variety of remarkable things they can accomplish when they get the support they need and energize our alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends around our common goal of advancing Panther opportunity and achievement,” said Cheryl Harrelson, vice president for university advancement and president of the Georgia State University Foundation. “There’s no better time than the spring semester, weeks before commencement season, to focus the entire Georgia State community on the vital connection between donor support, student success and degree completion to inspire giving that uplifts Panthers.”
Last year’s record Georgia State Day engagement was driven by the university’s on-campus giving day celebration event. Hundreds of students on the Atlanta Campus participated in Georgia State Day activities, recording and handwriting messages of appreciation to donors, helping GSU staff with record-setting constituent outreach and engaging with donors around their impact on the institution and its students.
Georgia State Day 2025 will commence on Wednesday, April 2, at 10 a.m., and last one day, nine hours and 13 minutes, a Georgia State Day tradition that honors the university’s founding year of 1913. A call for volunteers, Georgia State Day Champions and challenge gifts will be issued in the coming months, with additional updates available at thestateday.gsu.edu leading up to the event.
