The Georgia State School of Music proudly welcomes Daniel Tancredi as its newest faculty member, assuming the role of Double Bass Instructor. Graduating with a full-ride scholarship from the prestigious Royal College of Music in London, UK, in 2020, Tancredi demonstrated outstanding musical proficiency and a commitment to excellence during his tenure.
"The string area is thrilled to welcome Daniel Tancredi as our new Artist Affiliate in double bass," remarked Tania Maxwell Clements, string area coordinator, and viola professor at GSU. "Daniel’s artistry and teaching are of the highest order, and his orchestral experience both here and in Europe will be of great benefit to our students."
Tancredi's professional journey has been marked by notable collaborations and performances with renowned orchestras and conductors, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the English National Opera, under the baton of distinguished conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Rafael Payare, and Antonio Pappano. His musical prowess and versatility have earned him recognition and admiration from audiences and peers alike.
Guided by accomplished mentors such as Felix Petit, Douglas Sommer, and Enno Senft, Tancredi has honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the intricacies of the double bass. His commitment to artistic excellence and continuous growth have led him to perform in prestigious venues across the globe.
Currently serving as the Principal Bass with the Atlanta Opera and freelancing regularly with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Tancredi brings a wealth of professional experience to his role at the Georgia State University School of Music. Dr. Chester Phillips, Director of the School of Music, expressed excitement about Tancredi's appointment, stating, "His remarkable skill and dedication to artistic mastery will undoubtedly inspire and empower our students to achieve success during their time at GSU. We eagerly anticipate the valuable contributions he will make to our school."
