ATLANTA — The national ranking for Georgia State University’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies (AYSPS) jumped six positions to No. 16, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Graduate Schools in Public Affairs rankings released today (April 9).
The Andrew Young School now ranks among an elite top 6 percent of those ranked.
All six AYSPS specializations ranked highly, with four ranking among the top 10: Urban Policy, Public Finance and Budgeting, Nonprofit Management and Local Government Management.
AYSPS public affairs program areas and their rankings for 2024 are:
- No. 3 – Urban Policy
- No. 5 – Public Finance and Budgeting
- No. 6 – Nonprofit Management
- No. 9 – Local Government Management
- No. 14 – Public Management and Leadership
- 26 – Public Policy Analysis
The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings for other programs in the college are No. 18 in Criminology, No. 51 in Social Work and No. 65 in Economics.

U.S. News & World Report bases its annual rankings of public affairs programs solely on results of peer-assessment surveys of deans, directors and department chairs representing more than 270 master’s programs in public affairs and administration.
