ATLANTA — Georgia State University’s online M.I.S. in Criminal Justice Administration ranks No. 27, placing it near the top 25 percent of online criminal justice programs in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report.
“Students who choose to advance their knowledge and careers through our interdisciplinary online M.I.S. in Criminal Justice Administration are taught by the same outstanding faculty who teach on campus,” said Ann-Margaret Esnard, interim dean of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. “We’re not surprised our program continues to rank so highly among its online peers.”
Georgia State’s ranking remained stable despite the rise in new online programs added by universities across the nation this year. At 23 new programs, the pool of candidates potentially ranked grew by more than a fifth of those counted.
U.S. News ranked Georgia State’s undergraduate program in criminal justice and criminology No. 18 for 2022.
“We feel this program has much room to grow and climb further up the rankings,” said Dean Dabney, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology. “We have been experimenting with different recruitment strategies that pair the academic program with leadership programs we offer through the department and college. We really believe this program is designed well to meet the needs of the officers and support staff of criminal justice agencies.”
U.S. News evaluates online criminal justice and criminology master’s degree programs using five categories: student-faculty engagement, faculty credentials and training, a survey of high-ranking academic administrators in the field, services and the diversity of online learning technologies, and student excellence. Their review includes research, self-reporting and peer assessments.
Applications for Georgia State’s online M.I.S. in Criminal Justice Administration are now open, with early the deadline closing Feb. 15, and the regular deadline closing April 1. Learn more about the program and how to apply HERE.
