ATLANTA — The Office of International Initiatives at Georgia State University named an alumnus and a student from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies (AYSPS) as 2022 Georgia State International Education Award winners during its invitation-only International Honorary Reception Nov. 7.
Juan Luis Gómez Reino (Ph.D. ’10) was awarded the Sheth International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement for his exemplary and longstanding professional reputation of achievement worldwide.
Ashley Aguilar (B.A. ’22) was named the Study Abroad Student of the Year for continuously sharing what she learned from her study abroad experience in Seoul, South Korea.
Both recipients were recognized for their exceptional international contributions and accomplishments. Reino and Aguilar were acknowledged as worthy of distinction and inspiring to the students, staff and faculty of Georgia State University.
The International Education Awards selection committee is composed of individuals from across the university who review nominations and decide on award winners after a multiple-month selection process.
“Our alumni and students make powerful contributions to international communities,” said Dean Sally Wallace. “We’re always grateful and proud when others acknowledge their achievements.”
