Since 2000, Ken Johnson, Ph.D., has taught at Perimeter College and served in a variety of roles including as English professor and now Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs.
For a dozen of those years, he has given faithfully to the Perimeter College to support student success and faculty development. When Johnson was chair of the English and Humanities Department at the college’s Alpharetta Campus, he started a fund to support faculty initiatives and resources.
“I've always hoped that my contribution in this area would lift faculty spirits and translate to improving student success,” the college leader says.
Johnson also shares that giving to Perimeter through regular contributions is his way of expressing gratitude for the rewarding profession he enjoys as a professor and administrator.
“Perimeter College has been a great career home for me,” he says.
“I feel loyalty to the institution, and this is a way to show that.”
After Johnson's promotion to associate dean, he became a Perimeter College Dean's Society and Georgia State University Presidents Society donor. Today, his giving includes contributions to the Honors College at Perimeter College and the Mario A.J. Bennekin Symposium.
Johnson respects that becoming a regular contributor to Perimeter College is a personal decision, yet he strongly encourages fellow colleagues to participate in giving. He believes that it is a collective way to provide additional and needed funding for scholarships as well as programmatic and faculty initiatives.
“Even a few dollars helps,” Johnson says.
