ATLANTA–Georgia State University’s fourth annual university-wide day of giving, Georgia State Day 2021, will kick off Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. to raise money for programs and initiatives that advance Georgia State’s mission and uplift students.
Through 7:13 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29—or one day, nine hours and 13 minutes, a duration chosen in honor of the university’s founding year—alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors and friends will show their Panther pride by boosting the areas of the university they care most about.
Georgia State Day 2021 (#TheStateDay) will build on the remarkable growth the annual giving day has experienced. More than 2,250 supporters donated more than $875,000 last year to university programs and initiatives on The State Day. This year, the university is calling on Panthers to Give, Boost and Roar, show that they’re “all in” for The State Way by donating, encouraging others to give and spreading the word.
“Georgia State Day is the university’s signature event each year that focuses and energizes donors on the areas of the university they care most about and that help students succeed,” said Jay Kahn, vice president of university advancement and president of the Georgia State Foundation. “Our thousands of generous donors provide meaningful support and change lives every day, and The State Day gives them the chance to show students just how many of us care.”
Participation in Georgia State Day is driven by spirited volunteer ambassadors, and the university is seeking individuals who want to help make Georgia State Day successful. As Panther Advancers, volunteers will fuel engagement with Georgia State Day and encourage donations. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends can sign up to be a Panther Advancer at thestateday.gsu.edu.
Georgia State Day will feature dozens of challenges and matching gifts that will unlock more than $300,000. As in years past, these challenges will affect gifts to all participating colleges and units, providing donors with the chance to increase the impact of their contributions by reaching various donor and dollar goals.
