For the first time, the College of Law held its annual Swearing-In Ceremony virtually on June 5. Hosted in an online meeting, 22 Georgia State Law graduates who passed the State Bar’s February exam were sworn into the Georgia Superior Court.
College of Law Interim Dean Leslie Wolf reminded graduates while this was not the ceremony they had imagined, it was just as significant.
“Let me just say how proud we are to be here together to mark this occasion, know that the entire Georgia State Law community is with you in spirit today,” Wolf said.
Judge Shawn LaGrua (J.D. ’89) of the Superior Court of Fulton County administered the oath. While it wasn’t in person, each graduate was on camera and recited the oath in unison.
“What a wonderful accomplishment you’ve gained through perseverance and hard work,” LaGrua said in her remarks. “My hope is that that for each one of you, five or 10 years from now, the love of this profession is still in your hearts because when done right and morally it is the noblest of professions.”
