“Col. Cummings brings a unique experience of leadership training guided by emphasis on human rights and the rule of law. His vast international training experience provides a great fit to help achieve GILEE’s mission,” said Professor Emeritus and GILEE Founding Director Robert Friedmann. “We are excited to have him on the GILEE team.”
Cummings has served in numerous leadership positions throughout his career. They culminated with his position as Training Director for the U.S. Security Coordinator’s Office for Israel and Palestine in the Department of State. In this position, he led a seven-nation team of officers who trained the Palestinian Authority Security Forces with the Israel government’s full consent.
“I’m very excited to join the GILEE team,” he said. “I strongly believe leadership is the foundation of any organization, and for the past 28 years GILEE has been providing law enforcement across Georgia, the U.S. and internationally with leader development that makes our communities safer. I’m looking forward to helping grow law enforcement and public safety leadership.”
Cummings was commissioned in the Infantry in 1991. He holds a B.A. in Education from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, and an M.S. in Education from Troy State University. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College, where he was a Fellow at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
