CLARKSTON, Ga.—More than 50 employers will be interviewing and hiring during the fourth annual Refugee and Immigrant Employment Summit and Job Fair, Friday, Sept. 20, at Georgia State University’s Clarkston Campus.
The summit begins at 9 a.m. with a panel discussion and workshop for employers, followed by a job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Positions will include part-time and full-time jobs, ranging from $10-per-hour, entry-level positions up to $18-per-hour positions.
Applicants are encouraged to dress in business attire and bring identification, work history information and resumes.
The job fair, which will take place in the Clarkston Campus gymnasium, is hosted by the nonprofit Friends of Refugees, WorkSource DeKalb, the DeKalb County Human Resources Department, Africans Immigrants Communities, Inc. and Georgia State University’s Perimeter College.
WorkSource DeKalb is a collaboration of service organizations providing unified education, training and employment programs for job seekers, and workforce development services for businesses. The program is 100-percent federally funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Friends of Refugees is a Clarkston-based nonprofit organization, whose mission is to empower refugees through opportunities that provide for their well-being, education and employment. The program hosts the Refugee Career Hub, which helps refugees and immigrants find jobs.
The job summit is free and open to the community.
