CLARKSTON, Ga. – Accomplished alumni of Georgia State University’s Perimeter College will keynote three Spring 2019 commencement celebrations on Tuesday, May 7, at the university’s Clarkston Campus.
Bekah Adamson will address graduation candidates and attendees at the 9 a.m. commencement ceremony, while Yash-yee Logan and Antonio Molina are set to offer remarks during the 12:15 and 3:30 p.m. commencement events, respectively.
“Inviting alumni to offer a bit of wisdom and motivation to current graduates adds an extra spark of joy and meaning to our commencement celebrations,” said Dr. Nancy Kropf, dean of Perimeter College. “It is always encouraging to hear about the achievements of our former graduates and to give them a platform for inspiring and congratulating new graduates.”
Adamson, a 2006 Perimeter graduate, is division director of hygiene support for Aspen Dental. She’s also the current president of The Georgia Dental Hygienists’ Association, which represents more than 7,000 dental hygienists across the state. Under Ms. Adamson’s leadership, the association successfully advocated for the expansion of services that Georgia law allows dental hygienists to provide to patients, a change that particularly benefits Georgians living in rural areas and others with limited access to dental care.
Logan attended Perimeter College in 2013-2014. She’s in her final year as an electrical engineering doctoral student at Georgia Tech and is a recent recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
A published researcher, Logan also has been selected for a number of competitive research opportunities with companies such as Intel, Keysight Technologies and Apple, in addition to serving as a graduate teaching assistant at Georgia Tech.
Molina is the chief operating officer of Consultorio Medico Hispano, a family-owned business that connects low-income individuals to health care. He is chair-elect for the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and past chair of the Latino Caucus of Georgia Democrats.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Molina is a 2011 political science graduate of Perimeter College who received his bachelor’s from Emory University and a law degree from Georgia State. In addition to working in the family business, he practices business law at an Atlanta boutique firm.
Molina has been recognized by Atlanta Business Chronicle and Georgia Trend Magazine in their respective “40 under 40” features.
There are 965 candidates for graduation from Georgia State’s Perimeter College this May, ranging from age 17 to older than 69. They are on track to receive associate of arts and associate of science degrees after following their choice of more than 30 academic pathways offered at the college. The largest number of the graduates studied business administration, health sciences or nursing.
