Sarah Lathrop (J.D. ’13), assistant director of admissions, received the 2017 Marjorie L. Girth Staff Achievement Award, which is given annually in recognition of Georgia State Law staff members who have given exceptional service to the college, Georgia State University, the public or who have achieved important professional development goals.
“Sarah is a joy to work with,” said Kelly Cahill Timmons, associate dean for student affairs and associate professor of law. “I loved having her as a student, and she has been an exceptional employee as well. She always goes the extra mile to welcome our incoming students and help with their transition to law school.”
Lathrop, who joined the college in 2013, works with prospective and admitted students in all aspects of the application process through matriculation. Prior to working at Georgia State Law, Lathrop worked in the admissions office as a student employee.
“I really love working with the students and representing the law school— especially since it is my law school,” Lathrop said. “I am happy and honored to do my best in whatever small part I have in helping the school grow and flourish.”
The award was established in 1996 in honor of Girth, former dean and professor emerita at Georgia State Law.
“It was a great honor to receive the award, and especially to be nominated by Dean Timmons, who was one of my favorite law professors,” Lathrop said. “It is such a privilege to now be working alongside her and so many other people that I greatly look up to!”
