Perimeter College alumni Tshibambe “Nathan” Tshimbombu has received the Robert B. Bunker Medical School Scholarship at Dartmouth College.
Tshimbombu received the $74,813 scholarship to cover his medical school tuition, room and books at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine for the 2017-18 academic year. The same amount also will be provided in the following three years of medical school.
Tshimbombu, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo until he was 20, spoke little English when he arrived in the United States. Most of his family left his native country because of threats made against them after his grandfather announced plans to run for the country's presidency.
While at Perimeter College, Tshimbombu was an Honors student in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the 2014 winner of multiple academic awards, including the college's President's Award. He received a full-ride scholarship to Dartmouth in 2014.
