VIENNA, Va.–Georgia State University has been ranked the seventh best institution in the nation for veterans in The Military Times “Best for Vets” Colleges 2017 survey.
The annual rankings are the result of Military Times’ comprehensive school-by-school survey of veteran and military student offerings and rates of academic achievement.
The rankings are based on university culture, academic outcomes and quality, student support, academic policies, cost and financial aid. University culture and academic outcomes and quality carry the most weight. Also factored in were data from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and U.S. Department of Defense, as well as three U.S. Department of Education sources: the IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) Data Center, College Scorecard data and the Cohort Default Rate Database.
More than 500 colleges took part in this year’s survey.
“The rating process was very rigorous but demonstrates that Georgia State is positioned to provide student veterans with everything they need to be successful in college,” said Mark Eister, Georgia State’s Military Outreach director.
Georgia State's Military Outreach Centers are on all six campuses and staffed with veterans prepared to guide, serve and assist military-connected students with what they need to succeed in their transition to college and civilian life, Eister said.
