Don’t flush or throw away those unused or expired prescriptions. Bring them to the campus police offices on the Atlanta, Clarkston, Decatur or Dunwoody campuses. Large mailbox-style boxes marked with the Medical Association of Georgia’s “Take Back” signs are now placed in the police offices on the Atlanta, Clarkston and Dunwoody campuses and secured in the lobby of SA building on the Decatur Campus. Students, faculty and staff can dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs on an anonymous, “no-questions-asked” basis. The drugs will be taken by campus police to the GBI for safe incineration and will not contaminate water supplies. The boxes in the police offices may be accessed during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Monday-Friday. The boxes represent the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation “Higher Education Take Back Initiative” campaign to reduce prescription drug abuse in Georgia. A Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit grant funds the program. For more information, contact Brian Lawton, Georgia State Police, at 404-413-3208, or [email protected]
