Associated Builders and Contractors Georgia Chapter honored McCarthy Building Companies Inc. with an Excellence in Construction - Award of Excellence for its work on Georgia State University College of Law’s building.
The biannual award recognizes the innovation, quality and vision of the project team — contractors, architects, engineers, owners and others—who played a vital role in the project's completion. It was presented July 20 at the 2016 EIC & Safety Gala at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
“Building the Georgia State University College of Law was a highlight of my career personally and a great testament to the relationship between Georgia State and McCarthy,” said Justis Brogan, McCarthy project manager. “We are excited about the many awards the new building has received and thank the entire project team for their innovative and collaborative approach to the project.”
Doug Yarn, professor of law and former building co-chair, said he enjoyed working with the McCarthy team on the project.
“Working with Justis and the entire McCarthy team for the past several years has been a pleasure,” Yarn said. “McCarthy responded with professionalism and good humor to the many difficult challenges that arose during the course of the project. The outcome speaks for itself. Not only do we have a building that is optimized for teaching, learning, and community engagement, we have a beautiful place in which to work. McCarthy is certainly deserving of this award.”
