On June 14, the South Atlantic Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America awarded McCarthy Building Companies Inc. for its work on 85 Park Place, the new home of Georgia State University College of Law. The company received a Project Achievement Award in the Public Building-New Construction category.
The association’s annual awards program recognizes outstanding achievement in the practice of construction management.
“McCarthy did a great job managing a complex project on a tight time frame,” said Chip Hill, assistant dean for administration and finance. “The contractors kept us on schedule and were very responsive and proactive when challenges arose, helping us find creative solutions.”
“We are honored to have built the Georgia State College of Law building and are proud that our work there was recognized by CMAA’s South Atlantic Chapter,” said Kevin Kuntz, McCarthy Southeast Division president. “The project was a success for both McCarthy and Georgia State University and we look forward to a long relationship on their campus.”
Hill said visitors continue to be impressed with 85 Park Place.
“We are reaping the benefits that were part of the vision in the design phase, including increasing interactions with the Atlanta community and our legal community through our clinics, conferences and events,” Hill said. “The space is allowing us to grow a variety of programs and facilitate continued innovation as we strive to meet the needs of the ever-changing landscape of the legal profession.”
