Gary Bingham, professor in the College of Education & Human Development’s Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, studies the home and school factors that contribute to the academic achievement of culturally- and linguistically-diverse children and how home and childcare experiences support or undermine young children’s learning and development. He is director of the college’s Urban Child Study Center, which promotes the overall development and school success of children and youth in urban contexts through innovative, translational research that informs policy and practice.
