Flavia Moraes is a journalist, physical geographer and climatologist. Her areas of research include analyzing extreme weather and climate events. Her work focuses on understanding drought events, their relationship with teleconnections (i.e., El Niño, La Niña, etc.), and their impacts on water resources and agriculture. Her research interests also include the understanding of the atmospheric characteristics of extreme events of precipitation, such as Mesoscale Convective Storms, Tropical Cyclones and Midlatitude Cyclones, and their related hazards and impacts on society.
