
Bio
Dr. Daniel Whitaker is the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs, Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Public Health, and Director of the National SafeCare Training and Research Center (NSTRC), which is housed in the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health at Georgia State University. Whitaker received his Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of Georgia and worked as a scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 10 years before coming to Georgia State in 2008. His research interests focus on family violence including child maltreatment prevention and intimate partner violence prevention, with an interest in intervention research and implementation science. As director of NSTRC, he has overseen the dissemination of SafeCare across the U.S. and internationally.
