ATLANTA — Through the support of an anonymous donor, the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University has awarded the Yes, I Can Scholarship to five outstanding undergraduate students.
The scholarship recipients, students in the Biomedical Science and Enterprise bachelor’s program in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences, each received a $1,800 award.
The Yes, I Can Scholarship fund provides support to students completing degree programs in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences who have demonstrated the capacity to overcome obstacles. Applicants must be in good academic standing and submit a 500-word essay describing obstacles surmounted while pursuing their education in biomedical sciences.
The 2025-26 Yes, I Can Scholarship recipients are Ana Victoria Cubillo Garcia, Kingsley Iwuji, Proma Kansagra, Oluwatoniloba Adewemimo and Alexandria Scott.
“While pursuing their education, students may experience hardships that hinder them from achieving their academic and professional goals,” said Cynthia Nau Cornelissen, associate director of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences. “The Yes, I Can Scholarship provides our students with financial support to help them continue their studies and achieve successful careers despite the challenges they may face. We’re proud of the resilience, determination and academic achievements of our students.”
