ATLANTA – Georgia State University’s Graduate School witnessed a historic record all-time high enrollment, exceeding the University System of Georgia’s (USG) projected enrollment growth by approximately 4.5 percent.
For the Fall 2025 semester, a total of 8,102 students enrolled in graduate programs at Georgia State, surpassing not only the USG’s current year projections of 7,764 enrollments but exceeding projections for the 2027 academic year.
“These record numbers are a testament to our talented faculty and staff, as well as the quality, diversity and agility of our academic programs,” said Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Nicolle Parsons-Pollard. “They reflect the intentional approach we are taking to recruit, cultivate and retain high-quality graduate students, a core priority of the university’s strategic plan. We are meeting students where they are with high-demand degrees, innovative learning modalities and simplified application processes.”
Enrollment growth was reflected across academic disciplines and not concentrated in one field. A sample of programs that saw the most significant growth from Fall 2024 and that enrolled a high volume of students in Fall 2025 include:
1. Master of Science in Health Sciences, Concentration in Health Informatics, with a 67 percent increase
2. Master of Education in School Psychology, with a 52 percent increase
3. Master of Science in Nursing (34 percent increase) and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (89 percent increase)
4. Doctor of Public Health (DPH), with a 27 percent increase
5. Master of Social Work (MSW), with a 42 percent increase.
The number of students enrolled in fully online graduate programs also increased by 24.7 percent from the Fall 2024 semester. In addition, overall international graduate enrollments remain high with Fall 2025 international enrollments only 2 percent lower than the prior year, despite challenging headwinds.
At Georgia State, record graduate enrollments are fueled by strong outcomes. Graduates experience personal growth, develop deep intellectual capacity, and create meaningful community impact, in addition to securing significant financial returns tied to career success. Alumni salaries increase steadily in the years following graduation, showing the long-term value of a Georgia State degree. For program-specific outcomes, visit Georgia Degrees Pay.
“From graduate certificates to doctoral degrees, Georgia State University’s breadth of program offerings creates outstanding opportunities for students to thrive across a wide range of careers and life stages,” Lisa Armistead, Dean of the Graduate School, said. “We look forward to expanding these opportunities as we continue to grow.”
