ATLANTA — Aaron Baird, a scholar specializing in health analytics, delegation theory, and health IT at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, received the Association for Information Systems (AIS) Mid-Career Award on Dec. 15 during the 2024 International Conference on Information Systems in Bangkok.
The AIS Mid-Career Award recognizes faculty members in the middle stages of their careers who have already made outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and/or service to the field of information systems. Baird, an associate professor with Georgia State’s Institute for Insight, more than exceeds the criteria.
- Baird’s most recent research focuses on using machine learning to identify sources of heterogeneity and disparity in health outcomes, and developing and testing theory related to human-AI delegation.
- His contributions to pedagogical improvement include revising Georgia State’s health information systems course into a digital health strategy course and, more recently, developing and teaching an advanced topics in analytics seminar.
- His service to the broader information systems community includes refereeing more than 200 manuscripts for the domain’s premier journals and serving as an associate editor for the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, on the editorial review board of Information Systems Research, and on the editorial board of Information and Organization.
“Aaron Baird has accomplished a remarkable amount for a mid-career scholar, and he is still very much on an upward trajectory,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the Robinson College. “His stature amongst his academic peers, and in the public health and business communities has been instrumental in establishing the reputation of Robinson’s somewhat new Institute for Insight, which was founded in 2016.”
Baird holds a doctorate in information systems from Arizona State University. He joined Georgia State in 2012.
