ATLANTA– Todd Maurer, senior associate dean for faculty and research at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business, has been appointed a Distinguished University Professor in recognition of his sustained and outstanding record in research, teaching and service. No more than five percent of Georgia State tenured faculty members are Distinguished University Professors at any time.
As an award-winning researcher in organizational behavior with a focus on employee and leadership development, Maurer is among the domain’s most cited scholars, according to an analysis conducted by Stanford University’s Meta-Research Innovation Center. He has also been recognized with the Outstanding Human Resource Development Scholar Award from the Academy of Human Resource Development, acknowledging his continuous record of scholarly productivity and influence in the profession. Maurer is an elected Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology for his "unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field." He has also been recognized as one of the most published authors in premier journals of his field, placing him in the top 1% of 1,690 authors.
Maurer joined Robinson in 2003 as a professor and in 2005 became the chair of the Department of Managerial Science. He now serves as senior associate dean for faculty and research leading Robinson’s research mission and faculty spanning 12 academic departments. He has significantly contributed to teaching and mentoring in recent years by guiding multiple cohorts of senior executives in Robinson's Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) program.
“Dr. Maurer’s teaching, research, service and academic leadership have been exemplary. He is an exceptional scholar and leader whose record of research and achievements surpass the expectations for his academic rank,” said Robinson College of Business Dean, Richard Phillips. “His commitment to excellence across all facets of academia truly merits this prestigious recognition.”
Prior to joining Georgia State, Maurer was an associate professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds a B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Akron.
