ATLANTA — Through the support of an anonymous donor, the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University has awarded its newly established Yes, I Can Scholarship to 12 outstanding undergraduate students.
The scholarship recipients are all students in the Biomedical Science and Enterprise bachelor’s program in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences and each received a $500 award.
The Yes, I Can Scholarship fund provides support to students enrolled in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences who have demonstrated the capacity to overcome obstacles. Applicants are required to be in good academic standing and submit a 500-word essay describing obstacles surmounted while pursuing their education in biomedical sciences.
The 2023-24 Yes, I Can Scholarship recipients are Yaneri Abreu, Petra-Dhue Allen, Amarie Argue, Imani Bellomy, Arin Dorsey, Onyinye Ejikeme, Nkkezi George, Antoinette Moore, Aderinsola Osinowo, Tejal Rangdal, Charlette Rolle and Sinead Slocum.
“Students can encounter hardships while pursuing their education that may hinder them from accomplishing their career goals,” said Cynthia Nau Cornelissen, associate director of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences. “The goal of this scholarship is to provide Biomedical Science and Enterprise students with additional financial support to help them continue their degree program and achieve career success in the midst of challenging times. Our students are resilient, and we are extremely proud of their academic achievements and determination to succeed.”
