ATLANTA— Andrea Jones, who helped direct and lead Georgia State’s communications and marketing initiatives for more than 15 years, will step down as vice president for Public Relations and Marketing Communications to join the University of North Florida as vice president for Marketing and Communications, effective June 8.
She was named vice president for Public Relations and Marketing Communications in December 2021 after serving as director of media relations and then associate vice president for the division.
“After only a few months at GSU, Andrea proved to be a vital partner so her elevation to vice president was one of my first cabinet appointments,” said Georgia State President M. Brian Blake. “Over the past 15 years, she has led Georgia State’s branding initiatives during some of the most dynamic years of the university’s history.”
During her time at Georgia State, Jones and her team built strong internal and external awareness of the university goals and direction, and she implemented successful processes and systems to coordinate marketing collaboration across the university.
Jones worked to elevate the reputation of the university as the national model for student success, helped develop The State Way — the university’s brand — and spearheaded bold advertising initiatives, including the ongoing university branding campaign at the T-Gate in Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Jones is well known and respected among local and national media. In May 2018, Georgia State’s student success programs were the subject of a New York Times feature story. Jones and her team have won numerous awards for marketing and communications efforts.
Jones will start her new role at the University of North Florida in early June.
