Shadae Page recalls feeling a strong sense of belonging when attending her first meeting as a Student Ambassador at Perimeter College.
“I felt like I was part of a family,” she said.
“Everyone was so welcoming, and I got the chance to make lifelong connections.”
Page studied computer science at Perimeter before transitioning to Georgia State’s Atlanta Campus. Last year, she was among twelve students serving as representatives for Perimeter’s Student Ambassador Program.

Shadae Page says being a Student Ambassador improved her public speaking and time management skills.
The leadership initiative launched several years ago with ten students selected to serve as hosts at college events and as goodwill ambassadors for the college Dean. Program participants also get the chance to engage with prospective students, alumni, college donors and community members through a variety of activities and programs. Ambassadors like Page are selected for the program based on individual interpersonal skills, good grades and enthusiasm for Perimeter.
Like Page, Sean Lovell studied computer science and spent two years as an Ambassador.
“My most memorable experience as an Ambassador was my first leadership retreat where I met the Dean and her board of advisors,” Lovell said.
“I got to meet all kinds of alumni who all came back to GSU because of the impact the school had on them.”
Lovell said the Ambassadors program also helped improve his public speaking, among other skills.
“I've developed a better understanding of myself and my strengths, which enables me to be a better leader,” Lovell said.
Page echoes Lovell, noting that she developed better time management skills while in the program.
“Being a Perimeter Ambassador has opened doors for me and helped me to grow my network and my mindset,” she said.
In addition, Page highly recommends the Student Ambassador program to other Perimeter students.
“I would encourage students to apply to be a Perimeter Ambassador because it gives you experience, builds your network and you are never alone,” she said.
Applications for the 2024-2025 cohort of Student Ambassadors at Perimeter College will be accepted until Feb. 23, 2024.
