
The Office of Faculty Affairs at Georgia State University awards Dr. Jennifer Sengin, Lecturer and Associate Director of Choral Activities at the School of Music, a 2022-2023 Georgia State University Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Faculty Achievement Award. This is the second back-to-back faculty award for Dr. Sengin who received the 2021-22 Georgia State University Instructional Effectiveness Award.
The Georgia State University Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Faculty Achievement Award recognizes an NTT faculty member for outstanding achievements in their assigned areas of specialty. The criteria may include a record of exemplary scholarly accomplishments over and above that expected for the nominee’s rank; and/or ongoing excellence in instructional accomplishment over and above that expected for the nominee’s rank; and/or contributions in service to Georgia State, the discipline, and/or the community above and beyond that expected for the nominee’s rank.
“I am so honored to receive this award and appreciative of the opportunities that GSU provides for NTT faculty,” said Dr. Sengin. “I am so grateful for this recognition!”
Dr. Sengin conducts the Treble Choir and the Choral Union. She teaches graduate choral literature, graduate and undergraduate conducting, and undergraduate choral methods, as well as supervises student teachers. Under her direction, the Georgia State University Treble Choir won first place in The American Prize Choral Performance category. Dr. Sengin also placed second in The American Prize Dale Warland Award in Choral Conducting.
The GA-ACDA recently appointed Dr. Sengin as President-Elect for 2023-2025. You can hear Dr. Sengin sing as part of the professional treble choir, mirabai, on their second album “Home in Me”, that was released in February of this year. Under her direction, the GSU Treble Choir recently sang at the 2023 Georgia Music Educators Association Conference with their program titled, “We Rise”. She was selected to the American Choral Directors Association International Conductor Exchange Program where she will travel to Germany this summer for an immersive choral experience.
